More than "Bloom Where You're Planted."
You can bloom where you are while still stretching in a new direction.
I wouldn’t say this rose bush is incandescently happy, but it’s still flowering.
It’s not in its ideal situation, but it’s still productive and still adding beauty. And it’s stretching towards the sun, of which it knows it needs more.
I’ll very likely move it someday.
But in the meantime, it’s reminding me to bring beauty where you are, even as you reach for what you want and need.
It’s not as simple as the trite “Bloom where you are planted.” We can bloom while still stretching in a new direction. And, unlike most plants, at many points in our lives we find ourselves planted in a variety of different circumstances.
Although, plants that started out in a perfect location—over say, a few decades—can find the environment around them changed and not to their betterment (like this one).
That definitely happens to people too. Our feet will eventually take us where their roots cannot without help—though we probably need more prodding than we’d like to admit.
I’m pretty sure these are Double Knockout Roses.
