It’s lovely having such a wide community of gardeners on Instagram to learn from and to get reminders about things and see what other people are doing.
But if the fact that the algorithm controls what you see and grows power as it creates anxiety and FOMO is starting to, well, create anxiety or FOMO, that’s kind of the opposite of what gardening as a hobby should produce.
It’s one reason I’m writing on Substack now, not just on Instagram.
So if you haven’t started any seeds yet…
Or pruned all your trees and shrubs…
Or made a planting plan…
And if you aren’t already harvesting baskets full of winter produce…
Don’t sweat.
Gardening isn’t a race or a competition (unless you’re growing roses in England, perhaps).
There’s still plenty of time. đŸ™‚

It is still winter.
And, truth be told, spring is the beginning of the growing season, not the finish line. You can jump in at almost any point in the year with something, and it’s bound to bring you joy.
